About

Melissa started her yoga journey in 2001 during her time in college to offset the pressure of being a student athlete. Yoga helped her to find peace and relieve her anxiety. She continued her practice after graduating and had dreams of opening a yoga studio. This dream led her to join her first 200 hr yoga teacher training. She studied under a Baptiste methodology and started teaching Journey into Power in 2016. Shortly after she discovered aerial yoga and got certified through SKY aerial yoga teacher training. She started teaching aerial yoga in 2018 in addition to her current yoga classes. In 2020 she decided to continue her yoga education and enrolled in her 300 hr yoga teacher training. During the pandemic studios closed, and her professional growth project inspired The Yogi Treehouse. She partnered with Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve to provide yoga to the community. A place they could meet and share their love of yoga and nature. Inviting people to connect with themselves and each other in a beautiful space. Collecting donations that helped with meadow restoration. The meadow board members allowed her to teach traditional yoga as well as Aerial. She gained her YACEP (Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider) accreditation and created F.L.Y. Aerial Teacher Training. Years of practice applied to the hammock make her classes playful, creative, empowering, and nurturing. She is a lover of joy, and being in the meadow connecting people to their purpose is one of her favorite things about life.
